BBQ Judges

Thank you for your interest in judging at our 4th annual competition. Certified and non-certified judges are needed for Friday and Saturday events.

All judges wanting to participate at the event must complete a Judge's Application (PDF or on-line) and a Judges Wavier of Liability. All applications will be considered in the order received. We will attempt to confirm your application at the earliest opportunity, depending on how quickly teams register for the event.

Please read the info below regarding Friday and Saturday competitions then complete your application noting the DAYS (one or both) for which you would like to judge.

Friday, July 18 @ Kelley Hall
Check-in 7 pm
Judge's Meeting 7:30 pm

Judging of Hors d'oeuvres and Desserts will take place on Friday evening, as well as selection of the best outfitted Pit. The judging panel will consist of a combination of certified and non-certified judges.

What is unique about this competition is that you will go to the team’s pit to judge their entry and they are responsible for hosting you. You will then judge on the criteria set forth in the judges meeting Friday night and submit your slips back at Kelley Hall through a designated Judge Captain.

Hors d'oeuvres are judged at 8 pm and Desserts at 9 pm. All judges will also select a best themed Pit.

Saturday, July 19 @ Kelley Hall
Check-in 9 am
Judge's Meeting 10 am

Judging of categories will begin at 11 am on Saturday. Categories of competition include Chicken, Ribs, Pork, Brisket (sanctioned) and Sausage and Cook's Choice-Poultry.

Entries will be brought to Kelley Hall by Cook Teams per the scheduled entry deadlines. If this judging interests you please be sure to check the box to judge SATURDAY on the Judge's Application.

Cancellation & Alternate Judges

Should you become unavailable to judge, please notify us immediately so your application can be replaced with another.

An alternate judge will be substituted for any judge who is not in Kelley Hall at 10 am sharp on Saturday! Please be prompt!
